HEAD TEACHER

Eve

I love my job because every day is different and each young person is unique with their own individual interests and goals. Discovering what their interests and motivations are is key to relationship building and their overall development. We are different to other schools. I can build bespoke education programmes that are constructed around the individual, enabling them to study things that they really enjoy as well as starting where they are with core subjects so that they can progress at a rate that is right for them with the aim to build their self-esteem and show them, that with the right support, they can achieve.

My job often pushes me out of my comfort zone and keeps pushing me to be the best version of myself. Whether this is leaping into teaching GCSE Science, leaping off a jetty into open water or braving the heights of a climbing wall I will always learn with the young people I am working with. I believe that building relationships is key to the job I do. Young people must feel safe and settled to be able to learn and achieving this is my first priority as only then will I begin to see them progress educationally.

I see myself a therapeutic teacher, as I will use therapeutic techniques to support young people to feel safe, build self-esteem and start to feel empowered. I specialise in working with looked after young people who have been through trauma and have suffered exclusion from school. I believe in looking behind the behaviour and understanding challenging behaviour as communication. I aim to support all my students to gain recognised qualifications and give them a strong foundation to progress in whatever they choose to do in the future. I am extremely passionate about what I do and I hope to channel that passion behind every young person I work with with the hope of instilling self-belief and creating confident learners.
